Jana Gavalcova: BLUE Indigo printing meets glamour

Slovak designer JANA GAVALCOVA made her debut at MQ VIENNA FASHION WEEK 2023 this year. With her collection “True Blue,” which she has been evolving since 2012, the fashion creator showcased handcrafted unique pieces inspired by folklore design.

Audiences at JANA GAVALCOVA‘s Fashion Show were treated to a blend of 1920s-inspired cocktail dresses, mysteriously black Swan Lake tulle, and folkloric patterns. Refined designs met daring looks combined with small glittering crystal elements. The collection “True Blue” drew inspiration from the art and beauty of indigo dyeing techniques. Indigo dyeing involves a coloring process where a white pattern is typically printed on blue fabric.

In addition to seductive lace dresses, the fashion creator presented extravagant plush two-piece outfits with matching coats, clearly emphasizing the diverse nature of her work. Her intention at MQ VIENNA FASHION WEEK 2023 was to tell a story with the variety of her designs and unite the entirety of her collection.

JANA GAVALCOVA founded her fashion label in 2005 and is now recognized as a successful designer on both Slovakian and international stages. One of her significant accomplishments was the opportunity to exhibit a selected part of her True Blue collection at the Slovak National Museum. Jana places great emphasis on detailed craftsmanship and sustainability in the production of her individual pieces.
